Why do I have to get sick on a weekend??

Yeah so it's Saturday morning about 9am and I have been up since about 6. I have got a sucky head cold and I'm feeling pretty stuffy and just plain blah!! Why does this have to happen on Saturday? The weekend is the only time I get with Wes while he is on this outage and I don't feel like doing jack crap today!!
Speaking of Wes I wish he'd hurry up and get up....I'm hungry and want breakfast but I don't want to fix anything till he gets up. But I don't want to wake him because I know that he never gets to sleep in.
I'm supposed to have supper club with some old sorority sisters tonight. We are doing spaghetti and I'm making a salad. If I don't get to feeling better however I might have to get one of them to drop by and pick up the salad and pass on going myself. Don't want to pass my germie bugs on to them.
We went to Olive Garden last night...yummy! I have some left over that will become my lunch today :) We also went to Marble Slab Creamery for dessert. If you are ever in Madison, on Hwy 72 in the Books A Million shopping center, try it. It is some of the best ice cream I have ever had.
We took my car to G'hill to drop off at the mechanic. We then went and saw my inlaw's for a bit. My mother in law was in a giddy mood. She was talking about Little Zach's latest antics and then all of the sudden...she says this.
"Now, when are ya'll going to make a baby again? Are you going off BC yet? I know ya'll talked about a spring baby." All of this in one breath. This is the second time she has just bluntly put us on the spot. With pretty much the same exact questions. (My mother in law is pretty forgetful...like sometimes she'll ask you the same thing in the span of a few minutes...so this was one of those times.)
I just looked at Wes. Then I told her "Well Kay we haven't exactly decided yet (which is a big fat lie!) but even when we decide we aren't making it known to ya'll or my parents because we want it to be a surprise when we get pregnant."
My reasoning is simply because I really do want it to be a surprise for them, and two if I didn't set those boundaries she'd be constantly asking me how it is going....and trust me there are no limits to how personal her questions will get. So for my own sanity she will know when we tell her we are pregnant.
It looks like it is going to be a rainy day. I think I accidentally gave too much water to my gerbera daisies. Like they were all gorgeous on Wednesday and Thursday...Thursday night I watered them...I thought I didn't give them much...but then yesterday they were droopy. Well I am hoping that I haven't hurt them, that they will bounce back....so much so that last night right before bed I asked Wes to move them up against the house on the porch so that if it did rain they wouldn't get any more water. I don't want to drown the poor things. I really hope I didn't kill them...I've only had them a week!
Well I think I am going to wake my dear hubby up...I'm starving :) Hope everyone has a fantastic Saturday and Sunday!

Thursday Thoughts

1. We have spent the last couple of days with our air not working and we couldn't figure out what was wrong. The system was coming on but it was just blowing air...not hot or cool just air...and so in turn it was about as hot in here as it was outside. I have a cousin who works on units so I called my mom last night to get his number. Well she reminds me that we have a warranty on the sucker and so we need to check out the conditions on that. Didn't want to accidentally void the warranty. Then she tells me that some air conditioners have a reset button on them that you have to push to switch it over. Most units do this automatically but it was a possibility we could check out. Well it was already dark out when she told me this so I just waited till Wes got home this morning. We go out and search the unit....no reset button. So I wondered if maybe we had accidentally tripped the breaker or something. Wes goes into the garage and flips the switches for the outside unit. We come in and look up the info about the warranty. We start to notice cool air. So I go check the thermostat and wouldn't you know....it was cooling off. So I guess flipping the breaker worked. Here's hoping that it continues to work.
2. I'm excited to note that we came well in under budget on our front yard work. Yeah!! This means that we can move onto our fence for the back yard. I'm so ready for a fence :)
3. I'm driving the Explorer right now because the O-ring ( a little piece that attaches to my radiator) on my car cracked. We are having to take it to Greenhill tomorrow to get fixed because we haven't been able to find a mechanic here so far. We got taken real bad by one in Decatur right after we got married and haven't had luck with finding one since. The one in Greenhill has fixed Wes' parents cars for years. It's just not a real convienient for us to have to take over there but it's got to be fixed. Wes wants to get the car completely tuned up as well because we are fixing to park it and it's going to become the back up car in case his little work car has trouble. But man is gas expensive for that Explorer...I filled it up last night and it cost me nearly $60...gas here is $3.41. You know I was thinking I started driving in 1996 and I believe gas was 88 cents then. I could fill my little car up for under $10....those days are long gone!
4. Speaking of cars it's only a matter of a few weeks till I have my brand new Civic. I can't wait. Although I will admit I'll miss driving my little Alero...she's been a good car.
5. My exhaustion is letting up a bit. My throat is sore today...I think it's my sinuses. But at least I have had more energy the past two days.
6. I watched a really good movie on Lifetime the other night. It was called Queen Sized. It was about this senior in high school who was on the bigger side and the popular girl in school as a joke nominates her to be homecoming queen. It was really good. The bigger girl was played by Nikki Blonskey...she played in the movie Hairspray with John Travolta if you have seen it. Anyway this movie was really good.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!!

10 on Tuesday

1. I haven't felt really great the past couple of days. I'm just really really tired and my stomach is just feeling blah...not nauseous but just like blah yuck. But mostly I'm just exhausted and I can't figure out why.
2. I'm going to spend my afternoon out in this pretty weather. I have got to paint my swing frame and so I am thinking that I'll pop the Ipod on and go enjoy the warmness and do my thing.
3. Less than two weeks, if all goes as planned, and Wes will be back on his normal schedule and I can't wait. This night shift thing isn't something I like.
4. I have been having nightmares lately and that is so not cool. I can't figure out why I am all of the sudden experiencing this (like several times a week) because this isn't a usual thing for me.
5. I'm really looking forward to this weekend for the simple fact that we aren't going to have to do yard work. We can actually spend our Friday and Saturday doing something else.
6. Mother's Day is coming up in about 3 weeks. I'm having a cookout at my house for my parents, bro, sis-in-law, and niece on the Saturday before. I'm also taking my mom to get a mani/pedi because she never does those kind of things for herself. I have no clue whatsoever what to do for Wes' mom. I told him to think of something because it's his mom but who knows...boy's aren't always the best at that.
7. Every weekend in May I have something planned. Some of those weekends are both nights something is planned. May is going to be busy.
8. Giving a shout out to Colleen...Happy 28th Birthday!
9. Fixing to hit the 2 month countdown to Disney World.
10. Wes met some of our new neighbors Saturday. They live two houses down from us. On our street everyone is new. But this little family seems really nice according to Wes. They have three kids and two of them are three year old twins :) They were talking about we needed to have a bar b que this summer...I'm there :)
Happy Tuesday all! FYI it's also Earth Day.

Front Part of Yard work is finished!

The front part of our yard work is finished. We have worked on this the past three weekends. Wes still needs to mow...he was going to do it yesterday but it was too muddy...so other than that here is the pictures. Oh and we also still need to paint our swing frame...that might be a project for me this week.

These are some Gerbera Daisies that I am going to hang on my porch along with some ferns.

And I just can't resist. Here are a few pics of the kitties :)

Five On Friday

1. Tomorrow the yard work will be finished!!!! Well at least the front yard :) Pictures will be posted probably Monday.
2. Made another diaper cake tonight. Check my baby blog on Monday for pics. (I'm too tired to upload them onto my computer right now...it's late.)
3. I'm frustrated with Target's registry. I have a bridal shower to go to on Sunday and I bought some stuff off her registry Wednesday and I checked tonight to make sure they were marked on there and they weren't. This is the second time this has happened with registries from there here lately. Frustrating. Good thing I got gift receipts with my purchase...cause she's liable to get duplicates now.
4. We went to Casa Blanca Mexican Restaurant tonight...the best Mexican place in Madison :) I had a fajita taco salad with chicken....YUM!
5. My kitties are starting to wean. They are five weeks today. I'm sad...because that means that 3 of them(pictures) go up on the value ads at Wes' work in about 2 weeks to hopefully find good homes. I wish I could screen these people to make sure my babies are going to good homes. I'm totally attached to them. We are def. keeping two...but if we can't find good homes for them I told Wes that we'd just have a bunch of cats because I absolutely REFUSE to take them to a shelter. I believe my parents are going to take one though and I know that that kitty will be treated great. Anyone want a kitty? Or know someone who might? They are cute :)

Have a beautiful weekend :)

Needing a Haircut....Looking for a New Style

I want a new style. Need a new haircut. I've been searching online hairstyle sites. I'm up for anything from sitting right above my shoulders and no shorter than my chin. I'm also thinking about getting some bangs cut back in. I'm kinda tired of no bangs. Somewhere over the last ten years I feel like my forehead has gotten bigger. Wes says I'm crazy but I refuse to pull my hair straight back, hence I'm always trying to make a side swept bang look on the side of my face. I don't want the straight across bangs like I used to have in high school, I just want some side bangs that I can leave down if want or pin to the side or tuck behind my ear.

All of these don't have bangs with them but I imagine them with some side bangs.

These are celebrity hairstyles:

For a little while in college I had my hair cut similar to this..I could flip it out or under. I really did like it but I am afraid my face is to fat for it right now.

I need some help lol! I'm so tired of my hair. All I can do with it is pull it up and I hate it! It's straight and too long...and limp because after my hair gets too long it does nothing!
Ya'll can be honest with me. My hair is currently about to my shoulder bones in my back. So this would be a decent amount being cut off. But I am so ready for it. I want to be able to do something with my hair besides pull it up!! Thanks ya'll!!

10 on Tuesday

1. I absolutely love CSI: Miami and New York. Right now I am watching one where the teams from New York and Miami are teaming up to find a serial killer.
2. We are almost finished with the front yard part of our yard work! Hallelujah!! The final stuff should be finished this upcoming weekend. I'll post pics of the process and final projects then :)
3. I have two showers to go to this weekend. One baby and one bridal.
4. 4 more classes and I'll have my masters degree!
5. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is Wes' last week of outage. Unfortunately we won't know till probably Friday.
6. Yard work is a fabulous workout. Especially if your house is on a hill like mine.
7. A little over two months till Disney! So excited!
8. I'm thinking of organizing a block party this summer. All the neighbors on my street are new...with us and the lady across the street being the ones who have lived here the longest. I thought it would be a great way to meet all the neighbors.
9. I can't believe we have owned this house for almost a year. Time sure does fly.
10. Speaking of time flying this past Sunday (the 13th) was the 4 year anniversary of mine and Wes' first date.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Some Randomness because I am B*O*R*E*D!!

1. Have you ever noticed that sometimes married couples resemble each other? Seriously. It's like over time you just start to favor one another. Wierd.

2. It absolutely ticks me off that telemarketers can call my cell phone. Hello I pay money for those minutes that they are wasting. Isn't it bad enough that they bug me at home? I sometimes wonder why we even have a land line because honestly the only people who call it is my parents and telemarketers.

3. It's a small world. I sometimes read/post on the Alabama board on the nest. Well the other day I had a post addressed to me and it was from a poster named Kellie Ray. Turns out it was a girl from high school, that was in band with us, although she was three years younger. She graduated in 2001. But in high school she was Kellie Parker. She was also in the same sorority as my roommate Holly at UNA. I think the last day I saw her was on her actual bid day so man that was years ago.
And then there is another girl on that board that saw I was from Decatur and it turns out she is engaged to Brock Appleton...I'll admit I had to think a minute and go back to my yearbook to figure out if I remembered him but once I saw his picture I did. Small world.

4. I am watching the movie Little Nicky and I have seen it once before a long time ago. I totally didn't realize that Reese Witherspoon was in it.

Okay think I am going to find something productive to do with my time until bedtime. Man will I be glad when Wes goes back to days. My evenings are pretty boring :)

Taken straight from Lauren's blog

Got this from Lauren's blog and decided I would participate too. Feel free to repost to your own blog.

Ten Years Ago:

  • 10 years ago I was one month away from graduating from high school with no clue of the tumultuous college career ahead of me. I realize now that everything happens for a reason, but at that time I was thinking that I was going to be with my high school boyfriend forever. Stupid I know but at that time that's how I felt. I guess I was in bliss at that moment..and even though the next several years was an emotional roller coaster I wouldn't trade them for anything...because I learned a lot from them.
5 things on my to do list today:
  1. Call Kara about going to the Klassy Kid's consignment on Thursday
  2. Clean master bathroom
  3. Email my sister in law back
  4. Eat dinner
  5. Finish up the laundry
I would do if I became a billionaire:
  • Let's see. I would pay off our current house and build my ultimate dream house. I'd put away all college expenses for any future kids. We'd have our dream cars. I'd open my own tea room to host bridal and baby showers, little girl tea parties, anniversary, mom's day out, etc...you get the idea. I'd give to our church for building a new building. I'd travel anywhere I wanted to go, and there are lots of places that I want to go. I would get a personal trainer. I'd donate to good causes. I'd go to culinary school. I'd buy season tickets to Auburn football games. There are tons more things I'd do but I don't want to go on forever.
5 of my secret bad habits:
  1. I'm a huge procrastinator with doing things that HAVE to be done...I put it off till the last minute.
  2. I have a bad habit of inserting the phrase "you know" into almost every sentence when I talk.
  3. I'm a bad phone person. I don't really like to talk on the phone and I am horrible about calling people back.
  4. I talk with my hands.
  5. I am an interuppter. It drives Wes absolutely crazy and he even gets ill with me about it if I do it too much when we are talking about something. I get it honest from my mom. She does it too :)
5 places I have lived
  1. Decatur, Alabama
  2. Tuscaloosa, Alabama
  3. Florence, Alabama
  4. Madison, Alabama
  5. Athens, Alabama
5 jobs I have had
  1. Point Mallard (ticket taker...I don't really remember what my exact title was)
  2. The Briar Patch (Sales associate)
  3. Sam's Club (cashier and front desk)
  4. 2nd/5th grade student teacher (West Morgan Elementary- I didn't get paid for this one)
  5. Kindergarten Teacher (Covenant Christian School)
5 things people don't know about me
  1. I'm tongue tied.
  2. I know a ton about football. I'm kinda like a guy about it. I love it. I know trivia, positions, stats, etc. I am kinda obsessed over it during the fall. On Saturday's you'll find me in front of the TV or actually at a game. It's in my blood :)
  3. If you combine the hours from my undergrad and grad school I have enough hours to have earned two bachelor's and then some.
  4. I have only dated one guy who was older than me in my whole entire dating career, and never have I dated someone who is my age. Yep I'm a younger guy woman :)
  5. When I was a kid I hated with a passion the song "Chariot's of Fire." Why I don't know...but I would scream until my parents turned it off...this all was when I was little...like three/four years old. My parents thought it was the oddest thing.

My Ten just a tad bit early....as in Monday night.

1. Danielle loved the diaper cake. Her shower was lots of fun. And I discovered how good Lenny's Sub shop is...awesome...they had party trays from there at her shower. Yum!
2. Tomorrow...the actual real Tuesday I am beginning the deep cleaning part of spring cleaning. Fun...not really.
3. Only two more weeks of Wes' outage..then he'll be back on normal schedule..Yay!!
4. I'm hoping and praying that Friday is a pretty day. I need it to be because we badly need to work on our yard. We have to till up the beds and put new edging down and plant new bushes. Then I have to pick out flowers for the beds. So here is praying we have pretty weather.
5. I might be babysitting Macy on Saturday. How excited am I? Super excited! Chris wants to go to Oxford Mississippi to Ole Miss to watch their spring game because one of his ex players now plays there. He doesn't want to take Macy. So hence Aunt Candi will be getting to keep her all day if Susan wants to go with Chris. Yay!
6. We went to eat with Chris, Susan, Macy, mom and dad after church yesterday and Macy came up to me and put both her hands on my face and said Candi Macy loves you. Aww how sweet :) I love how she refers to herself in third person.
7. I think we may go see the movie 21 this weekend. I have seen several previews for it, and then Wes' friend Brian went and saw it and said we just had to go see it. Said it was excellent.
8. Speaking of movies I think I am going to order American Ganster this week off of PPV. I've been wanting to see it and I noticed it's on there. Also I don't think I ever said anything about this movie we saw but it was fabulous. Never Back Down. It has to be one the best movies I have seen lately. And it is definitely a guy friendly movie.
9. My kitties are doing good. They were 3 weeks this past Friday. They are walking all over the place and a couple of them will follow us around. Overall they are pretty mellow. But they have some claws. When you pick them up they don't understand you aren't going to drop them yet. Wes got scratched across the face and my hand got pretty scratched up. But other than that they are lots of fun.
10. Some pics of the kitties.

The clouds today match my mood....

I need to brighten up. Give me some funny stuff or cute stories. Hope ya'll's days are sunny even though it may be cloudy :)

I just realized how much we spend on groceries!

I bought this hand pantry organizer thing that attatches to my pantry door and voila instant space and organization. However I really realized how much groceries we buy for just two people, how much we waste (I had to throw away a lot of expired stuff), and just how much money that is. Part of my problem was due to the vastness of my pantry shelf, items were getting lost in there, and thus forgotten.
So I told Wes that I will not go to the grocery store again, with the exception of needing milk and bread, until our pantry is almost bare. So I am going to have to get completely creative to use up the stuff.
My new grocery strategies:
1. DO NOT GO TO THE STORE WHEN HUNGRY!!! sorry for the caps but I feel like that one is mucho important.
2. Make a menu before going, put on the list the items I need, and stick to my list. Lists are going to become my new best friend.
3. If there is something non perishable on sale then I might stock up on it if I believe I will use it...if not then avoid it all together.

The McClanahan's are also cutting down on their sugar intake. Also we are cutting down/or out in my case on cokes. Back in 2005 when I did weight watchers I completely gave up cokes...until I got married. I only drink one a couple days a week and I never allow myself more than one a day. I'm now going to give them up. I send one to work with Wes everyday but as far as I know he pretty much only drinks that one. Except maybe right now because he is on nights and wants the caffeine. But ovrerall he does pretty good. To deter myself from wanting one I am going to buy Dr. Pepper and Sundrop...two cokes I don't like and refuse to drink. He however loves them. So that solves our problem. And this will help on the groceries too. Cokes are expensive. Target however always has the 4 for $11 sale. Publix does too. So that's when I buy them.

I was made aware of our spending after I was going through my checkbook register yesterday and checking off the transactions that had cleared the bank. I realized we spent a lot of unnecessary money. I realized that I didn't want to spend this money on food. I would much rather spend it on fun stuff :) Who wouldn't? So yeah we shall no longer be a slave to grocery stores and food :) Wish us luck on this!
