Some Happy Thoughts for a Thursday

About two weeks ago I was feeling pretty low. I guess you could call it the January blues. Thankfully I am not currently feeling blue. So I thought I'd post some things that make me happy!
1. My cat Savannah will lie on my feet while I am at the computer. It really helps on days like today since I am barefooted and it's a wee bit chilly.
2. My husband works really hard and he hardly ever gets to buy him something material for it. So after a few months of salivating over big tv's we finally get to go pick up the big boy tonight. It makes me smile to see his eyes light up lol :)
3. My dad told me last night that he has joined a gym. That made me happy. He is 60 years old, diabetic, and had open heart surgery two years ago on Feb. 22. Since that surgery he has really tried to make life changes. He still smokes but has drastically cut down on it, a big improvement since he has smoked for 40 years, and he watches what he eats a whole lot better than he used to. He has been going to the mall to do his walking but when his doctor told him about the gym inside Rehab Access and the fact that it had a pool (I believe that was the clincher for him) my dad said where do I sign up?
4. Our preacher at church has been doing a series on the family. I am really enjoying it. This Sunday he is discussing the role of the husband. I am looking forward to it.
5. Seeing a new post on my friends blogs can sometimes make my day :)
Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Sick Day Tuesday

Yeah the McClanahan household is sick. Both of us. Blah! Something very very similar to the flu has been floating around Browns Ferry and Wes decided to bring it home with him. I have felt pretty rotten since Sunday. Wes is home from work today and I still feel like poo and I am having to take care of him too.
Anyway though I thought I might give ten on Tuesday a shot. Although I am not totally sure I'll make it.
1. We bought a new tv last night. It's a 46' Samsung LCD HD tv. Wes has been eyeing that sucker a while and it was on sale at Best Buy so last night we made his dream a reality. They had to order one though so we won't actually get it till Thursday.
2. I am working on a cross stitching project. Nothing hard the "x's" are already in place on the blanket I am just having to thread in the thread. I am doing pretty good on it however. I'll post pics later.
3. I am also learning to crochet. My friend Kara gave me some how to books and some supplies so I am trying to get the basics down before I try to make something.
4. There is this stray cat about that is solid black. It's a really pretty cat but is sorta skittish. It has no ears. I think that it has been sneaking into our garage and eating our cat's food. That's okay though because it seems like a nice kitty.
5. Me and my friend Jennifer are going to see "27 Dresses" Saturday.
6. I am thinking of holding a mother/daughter tea for my mom and aunts for Mother's Day. I have been getting ideas online.
7. I got Wes to go into Babies R Us last Friday night. He was amazed at all there is out for a baby. And I found the cutest mobile ever in there! It was Aubie the Tiger dressed in a football uniform! I love it!
Yeah I think seven is going to be it. Hope everyone has a great day.

Thursday Thoughts

Yeah so I am bored. I don't really have anything planned today and I am trying to restrain myself from going "browsing" at stores. I tend to do that when I am bored lol.
So I got my linen closet organized! Go me!

It is really hard to take a pic of the whole closet because there is a wall there that prevents me from backing up all the way to be able to get the whole thing in. But there is a small taste of what it looks like.
Our mortgage got sold for the third time and we haven't even owned the house a year yet. Heck the first time it got sold was before we even made our first payment. It will probably get sold many many more times lol.
I am getting really excited about our Disney vacation in July. I have been there tons but I just love it every time I go. I am mostly excited to see what Wes thinks since he has never been.
My healthy plan is going smoothly. I broke down last night however and made chocolate no bake cookies. I am not this huge chocolate person. In fact the only time I want it is that certain time of month. So I broke down last night. But I sent several with Wes to work this morning for him to share. That way I won't be chomping down on them all day and then realize hey I ate like 20 cookies lol. They are the kind of cookie that that can happen to. I also bought this DVD of Dancing with the Stars. It teaches you four different dances. I am hoping that will help me with my cardio.
I am applying for a part time job at First Baptist Child Development Center in Madison today. It is for a morning teaching position. Not sure what age group but I know it will be under the age of 4. But it is for the morning so I will still have my afternoons to devote to my school work. All my classes are online this semester. How lucky did I get with that. But unfortunately that means I am having to stay on top of things about getting assignments in. It is really helping me with my procrastination problem. :)
We recieved a letter in the mail from Serra Toyota in Decatur saying that we had won some prizes. At first I was skeptical. There had to be a gimmick. Wes called the number and talked to a lady down at the dealership. She said that all we had to do was come in, give our registration number to the receptionist and we are guaranteed three prizes (choosing from 3day/2night resort giveaway, $2,500 instant scratch ticket, home theater system, or $1,000 instant scratch ticket) and then we are put in the running for a $10,000 cash giveaway. Wes asked if there was a catch, she said no, that all we had to do was come in and claim them. She said that if we wanted to browse around that would be fine, and if we just wanted the prizes and leave that would be fine. I am still skeptical. But Wes said okay because he wants to look at the Prius' anyway. I guess it couldn't hurt. And if it's a bust then all we wasted was time. I believe that it's some kind of PR thing. Either which way we are going Saturday.
Well I guess that is it. I need to go find something productive to do lol. Hope everyone has a great day!

It's that time of the week again! 10 on Tuesday

1. Had a fabulous three day weekend.
2. Saw the movie Juno yesterday. It was cute.
3. Scored some home decoration deals this weekend. I got a really pretty beveled(sp?), huge mirror and a new front door mat at Kirklands for under $40. Hoping to get the mirror up tonight. Also we got a new storage cabinet for our garage from Lowes for $65 and the thing is ginormous!
4. I also got my swing frame. We are going to paint it white and Wes has to cut the ends off of it because it is made to stick in the ground and I am sitting it on my front porch so the ends need to be even.
5. The following three links in order are: 1) and 2) inspiration pics for my bed in our master and 3) the comforter I am strongly thinking about getting for the master

http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/08/57/69/61/0008576961774_500X500.jpg

6. I wish I knew how to make those links that all they say is look here, and the link is on the here part. It would be much more efficient.
7. I am throwing my cousin a pink and black lingerie shower next November. Why am I posting this in January? Because I am hunting down the cute Valentines decor now. I heart the Dollar Tree for this kind of stuff no kidding. They actually have some really cute holiday decor.
8. Colleen I looked through the Mother of All pregnancy books this weekend. I am looking forward to reading it.
9. Another baby book question. Baby Bargains? Any raves or rants? Worth it to buy?
10. That linen closet I have been wanting to organize for the past couple of weeks? It will get organized this week!

Happy Tuesday all!

Weekends are the best thing ever invented :)

So what's everyone's weekend plans? Mine are pretty simple. Wes' work is having it's winter social Saturday night at Joe Wheeler. We get to dress up and have a five course dinner. I have been looking forward to this :) We are also buying a frame for my front porch swing that I got for my birthday (that has been sitting in the garage for the last 6 months). So hopefully we'll get it put up this weekend. We are having dinner and game night with another couple friend of ours tonight. Mexican Fiesta time lol. Then Sunday it is church and do some work around the house day. Gotta love simple weekends.
So I have a matter of opinion question for ya'll. I've been on a search for a new comforter for the guest room. What do ya'll think of this one?

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/512LNjGeLTL._SS384_.jpg

I saw it in person in Target and it is really vibrant in color. I want that room to be fun and girly.
Thanks for your opinions.

Happy Friday!

What's Happening?

I have been on Disney overload lately. I am trying to plan our vacation for the first week in July. There is so much out there. Now I have been to Disney like 6 times but Wes has never ever been and I really want him to enjoy himself. It is our two year anniversary trip and the kickoff to us TTC. So yeah I have visited through every Disney website (ok so not every but a lot) and read through two guides thus far. So far we have decided 3 things: 1. We are going June 28- July 3 (Yes the hottest and one of the most crowded times ever but hey we can't change our anniversary and that is the only non training week Wes has during the summer.) 2. We are flying out of Birmingham because it is like almost a 200 dollar airfare difference from Huntsville, and it will still be cheaper to just pay to park our car at the airport. 3. We are staying at the Port Orleans which is a Disney resort. Prices on this trip haven't been as bad as I thought. But it is Disney and this is the one time we will go sans children. We have both agreed that we will take our children one day but not until they are old enough to enjoy it.
In other news I am feeling a bit healthier lately. Not so sluggish as I have been feeling. I am having success so far with Target's prenatal vitamins. I might jump up to the prescription ones when I actually become pregnant though. I also have only been drinking water lately. Occasionally I add the crystal light packets that flavors water just to give it a bit of kick though. I have been having to go to the bathroom a lot more but I figure the water is good for me and hopefully starting to cleanse me out :) Also we are eating healthier and I am only preparing enough for us to have a healthy portion at dinner and then I cook a little extra for Wes' lunch the following day. That saves me as well from having to buy so many frozen dinners to send him. I enjoy eating a sandwich or lean cuisine or smart ones for lunch. I haven't got a clue what I weigh( I don't own a scale) but I probably should buy one so I can see. However it isn't necessarily about the numbers to me. I can tell in other ways. Like I said before I just want to be healthy. Oh and I have started my pilates back up and I have gotten the process started to join TVA's gym (it's free!). They have to run security clearance on me first. But when I get that I am going to go hop on that treadmill and zone out to my Ipod.
No plans this weekend which is nice. I am making turkey wraps with a side salad for dinner tonight. I think I am also going to rent a movie to watch tonight. I still haven't seen "We are Marshall" so maybe that or another good one out there. I hope to clean out some closets this weekend. I don't know if I'll actually succeed at that though lol. I hate doing it but it needs to be done. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Concieve Cushion...What do you think?

So this morning I was waiting on my clothes to finish drying so I could put another load in. I was surfing the internet cause it was seriously like 5:30am. I sometimes go check out the boards at thenest.com and I came across a post about this. Definitely interesting but I would think a regular pillow could accomplish the same thing. What do you think?

**Side Note** No I am not considering getting this I just found it and thought it was interesting**

10 on Tuesday

1. Go see Charlie Wilson' War. Me and Wes saw it last weekend and it was really good.
2. Little Zach turned 1 this weekend.

3. I love Laffy Taffy. I especially love the cheesy jokes and riddles on Laffy Taffy.
4. I am in the middle of reading "The Other Boelyn Girl" Good book. Really puts into perspective how far women have come. I was excited to see when we went to the theater last that they are making this book into a movie.
5. I hate Verizon. Simply hate it. They have ZERO customer service skills!! I want to terminate with them and go to Cingular. Too bad it would cost us like 350 dollars to do that. I don't know if we should do that or just wait it out till September of 2009. Stupid Verizon.
6. I got this really funny picture of Savannah the other day.

7. I was listening to the radio yesterday and an old song I remember from high school came on. "All My Life" by KC and JoJo. I think it was our senior prom lead out song. Anyway it's a good song.
8. I am super excited because I am on an organizational spree. I am organizing everything in our house. I'll post pics as I get something done.
9. Wow I just realized that I was excited so much about organization that I put it on a ten on Tuesday. When did I get old? :)
10. Happy Tuesday to everyone!

Belly Laughs

Okay so last night me and Wes went to Books A Million. We do this a lot when we don't have anything else to do. It's how I read my magazines without buying them...shameful I know. Well last night I was looking in the baby section and I saw the book Belly Laughs by Jenny McCartney. Well I read it standing right there. It was hilarious and extremely matter of fact. She has a catchy way of telling you how it is and making it funny at the same time. I laughed out loud at some of the things she said. Pick it up sometime and read it if you haven't yet. It is an extremely quick read...like I read it in less than 20 minutes...it moves fast. I was going to pick up her Baby Laughs but Wes was ready to go. Maybe next time.

10 Random Thoughts on Friday

1. I love sugarless gum...especially Orbit's Cinnamint. It is what saves me from boredom eating.
2. I am pretty excited that this upcoming Tuesday is the season premier of One Tree Hill. I have missed that show this fall!
3. So I am in search for comforters for both my master bedroom and guest bedroom. I know that I am going with the light blue with chocolate accents in the master. I want a soothing place in there. I have no clue about the guest.
4. I'm also in search for a skinny table to go in my living room. I have a blank wall that needs to be filled with something.
5. I need to grocery shop but I am so not inspired on what to cook. I have looked and nothing really sounds that great to me. I don't want to just go to the store because I end up buying things we don't need that way and spending way more money. Sometimes food just doesn't sound good to me and other times it is all I can think about. Blah!
6. I am actually excited because we have no plans this weekend! None! I feel like we have done nothing but go go go for the past month so I am happy to stay at home and chill this weekend.
7. I got lots of cool stuff for Christmas but so far I think my favorite is the electric tart burner Chris and Susan got me. I have a Yankee candle tart in there right now. My house smells like Cranberry Chutney..YUM!
8. I would like to thank Colleen and Monica for their advice on the previous post. I have a gift card to Barnes and Noble that I have been hording since my birthday and I think I'll use it to buy the Mother of All Pregnancy books. Also I will be checking out those websites.
9.

Here is a video of Macy with her walking baby doll at Christmas.
10. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Oh Baby Baby Baby

So yeah it's official. This is the year that I hope to become pregnant. We have agreed on a July start date. So I have round about 6 months to get mentally prepared for this. Is it okay that I am excited but scared out of my wits? I hope so.
So my first thing I want to do is lose about 15 pounds. Now here is my thing. It's not really what I eat per se...I don't exercise and I have a very slow metabolism. So goal number one? Exercise! Here is my plan. I am joining a gym that is located very close to our house. I am stocking my Ipod with motivational workout songs...any suggestions? I love to walk and run on treadmills so that is one of the things I am going to be doing. 3-4 things a week.
For the toning/strengthening part of my exercise plan I am going to be picking up my pilates. I did pilates a lot back in the college days and it was extremely relaxing and I was a lot more flexible when I was doing it so I figured why not?
Next up on my list of to do's is start a prenatal vitamin. Dr. Spangler said he could prescribe a prescription one for me but I think I am going to try an over the counter one first. Susan told me that the Target brand ones were good for her when she was pregnant with Macy.
The third thing I am going to do is educate myself on anything and everything baby. So I am asking you who have babies, are pregnant, or are trying to recommend books, websites, whatever to me to help me out. I know very little about birthing babies :)
Mainly I want to be healthy and have a healthy pregnancy.

A funny to start the new year! (Disclaimer: Only will be funny to Auburn fans!)

**OK so this link isn't working...you might have to copy and paste...sorry...I'm not sure what I am doing wrong**

This is what every Bama fan that went to their bowl game had to drive under...because they had to go through the place where LA Monroe is to get there!! Can we say ouch? Or better yet HAHAHAHAHA! Okay sorry that was my funny for today!
