5 on Tuesday in time for Christmas

1. Still trying to finish Macy's gift but it is turning out super cute! I'll post pictures after Christmas because it isn't going to be finished until tonight.
2. Me and Wes went to Nashville on Saturday to browse around Opry Mills and to see the lights and such at the Opryland Hotel. I wanted to go see ICE but it closed at 7pm and I wasn't aware of that and we didn't make it in time. But we did get to eat at the Rainforest Cafe :)
3. Congratulations extended to my old friend Holly who got engaged last week.
4. I am making Christmas cookies today. Yummy!
5. My cats chewed through one of our cords on our pre-lit tree! So now my bottom half of lights don't light up...good thing I have a handy husband who knows how to fix it.

I have more but I am in a super hurry today because I got lots to do! I just also wanted to take time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!! I hope ya'll all enjoy your time with your families, and get some cool goodies :) Be safe, eat lots, and feel blessed. Happy Holidays!

This my friends

is going to be turned into one fabulous Christmas gift for Macy. The finished product will make it's debut on this blog well when it is finished. Hopefully by Sunday (keeping my fingers crossed!).

It's a busy time of the year

and of course I would come down with a bad cold right when I need to be most productive. So instead I have spent the last three days on my couch with kleenex, fluids, the book Eclipse, this laptop, and the remote.
Good news is I'm feeling better and tomorrow I have to hit the ground running. I have to make a much needed visit to the post office and I am D-R-E-A-D-I-N-G it! And I got to go get Callies stitches out since I am a few days over due on that one.
And *hanging my head in shame* I'm not done with Christmas shopping. Not even close! I can't wrap my presents till the day before Christmas Eve because my cats will tear the wrapping off. In fact we were only able to have ornaments on our tree for like 4 days because they couldn't resist climbing it and they broke one of our wedding ornaments! I was heartbroken but we have since located a replacement and will be getting it but still. Here it is Dec 16 and we have taken our tree down because my cats can't behave. Fortunately I have been able to keep my other Christmas decor up because they haven't been interested in it (knocking on wood).
When the new year gets here my boy cats are becoming outdoor kitties. I just can't have them tearing stuff up in my house, and 98% of the time they are the guilty party. They'll be able to get in and out of the garage and they'll sleep in there but they aren't seeming to be too happy indoors so I am going to let them see how they like the outdoors.
Other than that things are pretty good at the McClanahan house. I have a few things and creativeness posts coming up in the very near future. Some thoughts on 2009 will also be included. But for now I am heading off to dreamland so I can play catch up tomorrow and feel like I am being productive! Happy Tuesday!

10 on Tuesday

1. My cousins wedding went off smoothly. There was some issues with the cakes but all got fixed and we went on with the show. A few of the pics:

2. You might have noticed from some of the pics that I got bangs :) Of course my hair is all gussied up in those pics for the purposes of the wedding but I really like my new bangs. My BIL's girlfriend did them for me and I think she did a pretty good job :) I like my hair much better now.
3. I am just now getting my Christmas decorations put up. Yeah I have been slacking!
4. Boo to Auburn getting rid of Tuberville. Now comes the part of finding a new coach. Hopefully they'll get a good fit for the university. I am hoping good things for the football team in 2009.
5. I am at a huge loss on what to get my brother for Christmas. Him and my BIL are the hardest people to buy for!
6. I'm doing Christmas goodie baking this weekend. Yummy :)
7. I'm so sick of salespeople calling this house. I have these Bank of America people calling me all the time (like 10 times a day!) trying to get me to sign up for a plantinum card. I don't want it and I am sure as heck never doing business with Bank of America again (they were the ones that wouldn't help us out on the ID theft.)
8. I have made this really cute spice drop wreath. I'll post pics when I post my Christmas pics.
9. I want to see the movie 4 Christmases.
10. I have begun thinking about what I want to accomplish in 2009. The last year of my twenties and I am determined to make it awesome!

Happy Tuesday all!

Happy Birthday

To my wonderful hubby! Hope your day is fabulous and this year brings you much happiness :) I love you!

A crappy weekend...

was made slightly better today by this arriving on my front porch.

Now I just have to get my tree up so I can put them on there :)

Six on Saturday

1. First and Foremost...WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE HEY!!!!!!!!!!
2. Thanksgiving was decent. We went to my extended family's gathering which happened to be at my parents house. My family is kinda stressed due to my cousin Ashley's wedding this upcoming weekend so it wasn't the most restful Thanksgiving. And I received tons of crap about being the lone Auburn fan in my family...as usual.
3. Went with my mom yesterday to the stores. We did not get up at the break of dawn but we were out by 8am. I didn't really find anything that was a hot deal, but really I wasn't looking. But Wes' mom did score Wes and his dad a Garmin GPS for 189 dollars...so I am excited about that!
4. I am getting my hair cut by Zach's girlfriend on Tuesday. I am getting bangs cut back...haven't had those since high school...but I need a change.
5. Wes has to work today at 3 so I'll be watching the Iron Bowl with my parents. Yeah I am watching the Iron bowl with 2 Bama fans...but my dad is fun to watch football with and even though he roots for the opposite team he stuck up for me on Thursday to my cousins telling them I could talk football all around them...and it's true..I'd talk circles around them. LOL they don't know who they'd mess with :)
6. This is random but Atlanta Bread Company has the most amazing 9 grain bread! Me and mom went there for lunch yesterday and I had a turkey on 9 grain bread and my mouth had an orgasm! Oh my sooooo good!

Hope ya'll all had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I'm going to enjoy the rest of my day and weekend. Christmas decorations are going up tomorrow afternoon after church...whoo hoo! I love this time of year!

Twilight

Twilight montoge Pictures, Images and Photos
Have you read and seen it yet? I have. Let's just say it made me feel like a giddy teenager again! Loved it. Now I am fixing to start reading the second book in the series New Moon. Anyway if you haven't read it, I recommend it. It was a quick and easy read. Also, and this is my opinion, the book is better. But I am hoping that this movie series is like the Harry Potter series. The first one was just eh..but as the actors got better and the budget got bigger the movies got awesome. I'm kinda thinking that this might be the case with Twilight. Oh and the guy who plays Edward played Cedric Diggory in HP4. So if you are looking for a good read and a decent movie...go for it.

10 on Tuesday

1. I'm frustrated with Susan right now. There is a Christmas issue going on. Long story short, we used to have Christmas on Christmas Eve at my moms. Then the past two years we have done it at Chris and Susan's. Well my mom wants to go back to having it at her house because she wants Macy to know what Christmas at Nana's is like. Macy gets to have Christmas Day at her other grandparents house, so I don't think my mom is asking too much. I personally want to go back to having it at my parents house as well because it just seems more like Christmas. So I wrote this email to Susan...I'm hoping that I got the point across without sounding too mean. What do ya'll think?

Susan,

Hey. I talked to mom tonight and she told me she had emailed you about Christmas.
She told me that she wanted to go back to having Christmas at their house, but that you told her ya'll like to be at home on Christmas Eve. Is there some reason for that? I thought ya'll did Santa with Macy on Christmas morning?
Really to be honest with you I would rather go back to having it at my parents house. It is really important to my mom, she wants Macy to remember Christmas at Nana's house, and when mine and Wes's little ones come along I want them to know that too. Macy gets to see what Christmas is like at your parents house and so I don't think my mom is asking too much to get to have Christmas at their house on Christmas Eve. She said that you had said that we could do lunch but what I am afraid of is that we'd do that and then we wouldn't have a lot of time together because ya'll would want to get back home.
I understand ya'll have a lot going on that time of the year, but really my mom doesn't ask a lot from ya'll so I am asking you to let her have Christmas Eve back at her house. It would mean a lot to her.

Thanks,
Candi

2. I've been pretty down and out lately. I'm hoping that the holiday's will cheer me up.
3. I'm taking my mother in law out to eat for her birthday on Friday.
4. I have an opportunity for a job at the Huntsville Montessori school teaching pre-k...I'm going in to do some observations and if they like me and I like it I get to start in January.
5. I'm hoping only one more week of outage for Wes.
6. I'll be glad when my cousin's wedding is over with. Only 2 and a half more weeks.
7. I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet. I don't even know what to get anyone.
8. Me and Wes are going to Nashville the weekend after his birthday to see the lights and stuff at Opryland Hotel and to go shopping at Opry Mills. I also think we are going to go eat at the Melting Pot while up there. I'm just ready to go. I haven't seen Wes for more than 2 hours a day since he has been on this outage. It sucks.
9. I want a different hairstyle. But I don't know what. I'm thinking I might get bangs again.
10. Gas is $1.92 at the Chevron near my house!! I don't think we have seen gas below $2.00 since before 9/11. I was actually able to fill my Accord up for less than $40...that's a first since we have had it...with the old gas prices it was at least $60!
Happy Tuesday all!

My Tigers are still AUsome!

Things have been rough at our house this football season. The time of year that I love so much and look so forward to has not been great this year. My poor Tigers have had a tough season with lots of struggles. It's been disappointing enough to have to watch them lose, but add injury to insult on my part my whole family are Bama fans and they love giving me a hard time! They do every year but it's been sooooo much worse this year because of the obvious. So for the first time ever in my life I will say I'll be glad when football season is over.
I wish them mucho luck against Georgia tomorrow, and then yippee for a week off so they can have their mindset right against the bammers :) (sorry Lauren and Katy :) ) Even though the odds are against them on both these games I think you have to take a few things in account.
1. They have beaten Bama the last 6 years, so they have the momentum to keep it going.
2. Bama has never won against Auburn in Bryant Denney stadium, and Auburn would like to keep it that way.
3. The fact that Bama is number one gives the Tigers a little oomph of thinking how nice it would be to knock of the number one team. Because face it Bama is going to beat Miss State this week, which leaves them #1, and then they have a bye week just like Auburn next week.
When it comes to the Iron Bowl you can't even begin to consider the teams overall season. It's a totally different ballgame. A true instate rivalry. My team may be the underdog this year, but in my book they are still AUsome! War Eagle!

Sunday Seven okay maybe Six

1. Lauren's baby shower yesterday was fabulous! It was so great seeing her and Colleen and Katy. (Monica I wish you had been feeling well enough to come but I'm glad that you are getting your rest!) I took a couple of pics but I am only going to post one. You can kinda see Lauren's baby belly...but not completely with the way she is turned. But trust me she has a cute little bump :)

Oh and Lauren I'll be emailing you the others I took.
2. This is a little plate that my husband...not me...made back in July at Macy's b'day party. Susan finally got it to me yesterday.

Now I got to figure out a place to display it.
3. My cousin Ashley's wedding day is sneaking up on me and I totally forgot until yesterday that I need my dressed altered! Eeek! I hope that a little under 4 weeks isn't too late. I'll be calling places first thing in the morning.
4. I am hosting Ashley's Naughty and Nice shower this upcoming weekend. Wish me luck!
5. I'll be glad when Wes' outage is over. This one has really thrown our schedule off because he doesn't have a single day off! I accidentally overslept this morning so we missed church. I'm just ready to have my normal day to day schedule back.
6. If any of you watch Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel they have a new episode out Friday on Sloss Furnace down in B'ham. That show is definitely interesting.

Ta-Da!

My cousins lingerie invitations that I made! Yeah they aren't super fancy but they go well with my black and pink theme and I'm proud of them because I made them with my own two hands lol!

And then a couple of pics from Gatlinburg.

Me and my momma

There were some HUGE pumpkins!

This was a partial view from our cabin. There was still a lot of green but there were some really pretty reds, yellows, and oranges too! We had a great time!

10 on Tuesday

1. Heading to Gatlinburg tomorrow.
2. As soon as I can find my transfer cord I'll post a picture of the invite I made for my cousin's lingerie shower.
3. Check out this blog. One Pretty Thing
I love it because it has all kinds of neat ideas and crafts.
4. I haven't been feeling very well lately. Lack of energy and it feels like a cold is coming on. Blah!
5. Looking forward to Lauren's baby shower in a couple weeks!
6. Since I am going to be out of town till Sunday night I am making Wes chocolate chip cookies before I leave. I never make them because I don't really like them, so he hardly ever gets them.
7. Maybe my Tigers can have a better Saturday. It's been sad seeing them lose the last three games :(
8. So anyone getting excited for the holidays? I am. I am going to deck out the house since I didn't get to decorate for fall.
9. Macy is taking dance. Ballet and tap. Bless her teacher for being able to keep her attention for 30 minutes.
10. I have a couple of prayer requests. Wes' grand dad has a some kind of mass on his lungs. They don't know if it is benign or malignant yet, waiting on biopsy results. My Uncle Clyde is going through chemo for a tumor on his bladder. Please keep these men in your thoughts. They are both in their 80's.

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday and I'll catch ya'll next week!

Monday Monday....

now I got that song running through my head!
It's the start of a new week and this one is pretty full for me. Got lots to do as it is Wes' last week of normal work for about a month. Time for another lovely outage and this time he is working 7 days a week, 10 hour days, and is on 2nd shift, which means he works from 5pm to 3am. Bless his heart :)
1. But I do have some great plans while he is doing this. I'm hoping I can surprise him with a newly painted living room and bedroom. He is thinking that we are going to have to paint these things come January and I thought how awesome would I be if I did this for him? One thing to check off the to do list. My mother in law said she'd come help me and might be able to drag my brother in law's girlfriend over to help as well. I just got to figure out the best way to paint the tray ceiling (as we have that in the living room as well as our bedroom) My brother has a really tall ladder that I might can borrow. Hmm....that is the only part that makes me nervous about this little venture.
2. I'm buying my new sewing machine this week! Man I never thought I'd get excited over something like that.
3. Going to Gatlinburg in two weeks. Really looking forward to that one. I think I am mainly excited to see the foilage.
4. I am almost finished with my cousin's lingerie shower invites. I'll post pictures later this week. They are turning out really cute.
5. I have one sick kitty and one who has got to get her lady parts taken care of this week. My poor Gizmo is having some tummy troubles...hopefully he'll be filling better soon. Callie gets the snip snip.
6. Macy "called" me yesterday. Actually Susan called but Macy wanted to talk to me. She informed me that Wes and Candi needed to come see Macy. And yes she refers to herself in third person.
7. We had three year old nursery yesterday at church and I witnessed a three year old meltdown over a plastic cell phone.
8. I don't get to buy Halloween candy this year because no one will be home to answer the door for trick or treaters. I hope that I don't get the bad rap in the neighborhood and being the no candy house! Would it be wierd for me to stick a bowl of candy out on the front porch with a sign to help yourself? On second thought no need to advertise to random strangers no one is home, especially on Halloween.
9. Wes never got my fall decorations down from the attic! So they haven't got put out...so sad too because I have the cutest sit down scarecrows and they would have looked great on my front porch swing. So now I am on a mission to deck out my house in a super manner for Christmas when it comes time.
10. I'm participating in an ornament exchange this year. Fun!
11. Did you know that cats have an adversion to citrus smelling things? We had to spray ALL of our baseboards down with a water mixture that had fresh orange juice squeezed into it because our cats were wanting to work their claws on our baseboards. But it works...they leave them alone. I am thinking Santa is going to bring the kitties a nice cat tree this year. The only thing that worries me about that is them launching themselves off the top of it onto somewhere they aren't supposed to be (like my entertainment center.) I've decided they do this off our couches or something because the other day I came in and somehow and I have no idea how they had knocked one of my iron sconces off my wall. I have no idea!
12. I have a new book series I am fixing to start reading. It's called Twilight and Zach's girlfriend Heather informed me about it. I have tried to get it at the library but it's always checked out. They are only like $7 at Walmart and there are I think three of them in the series. I think I might just have to buy them. They seem to be the "it" books right now. I know they are coming out with a movie on the first book in November. She told me because I loved Harry Potter I should like these. I gotta finish The Good German first.
13. I have found a new lemonade I love. Simply Lemonade. Oh my goodness! Call me crazy but to me it tastes almost like Toomer's Lemonade! And if you have ever had Toomer's lemonade and if you like lemonade you know it'st the best stuff :)
Okay I have bored ya'll for long enough now with my random happenings. Just look at it like a 10 plus some on Monday instead of Tuesday. And until I get a more exciting life then this is what you get haha :) Happy Monday all! Hope your week is great!

A Random Meme

I saw this on another blog that I frequent and instead of doing a typical 10 on Tuesday I decided to do this. I don't have a ton going on right now but I don't want to fall behind on my blogging either. Also I want to wish my daddy a Happy Birthday. He is turning 61 today. Happy Birthday Dad! I love you!
Okay so onto the meme.

Outside my window... is dark with a full moon! Something about full moons in October gets to me :) Typical Halloweeny vibe.

I am thinking... so many things but mainly that God is good and he has blessed me so much.

I am thankful for... my husband. He is there for me when I need him, cheers me up when I am sad, talks some sense into me when I am overreacting, and he will car dance with me and doesn't care if we look like idiots!

From the kitchen... came a simple but good Italian meal for dinner tonight. Stuffed ravioli, ceasar salad, and toasty bread. Yum :)

I am wearing... jeans, a button down 3/4 length shirt that has flowers on it, brown socks and my brown mary janes

I am creating... invitations for my cousin Ashley's lingerie shower

I am going... to Greenhill this weekend to celebrate my father in law's b'day.

I am reading... The Good German by Joseph Kanon

I am hoping... that the vet can get Callie in this week to get her fixed...she's starting to show signs of going into heat and since we have two male kitties as well that won't do.

I am hearing... the tv which is turned to Ripley's Believe it or Not which Wes is watching.

Around the house... is actually pretty clean because I have been trying to keep up with a schedule and so far so good.

One of my favorite things... is this season. Fall to me is so refreshing. I love the leaves and color of trees, I love the way the air smells, I love all the festivals around, I love mums and pumpkins, I love when it gets crisp in the evening, and I love football.

A few plans for the rest of the week... hopefully finishing Ashley's invites so I can get them in the mail next week, celebrating my father in law's birthday, getting the office ready to paint, and organizing my closet.

10 on Tuesday

1. I made $250 at the garage sale. Whoo hoo new fall clothes for me!
2. I have an ear infection. Boo.
3. We moved our china hutch into the kitchen. I had to rearrange some stuff. But now I have wall space on either side of the hutch and I gotta find something to go on it.
4. Happy Birthday Holly!
5. Wes starts his fall outage on Oct 25th. He'll be working 2nd shift. He'll be working 7 days a week for 10 hours a day. This outage is supposed to last 4 weeks. We'll see.
6. My daddy's and Wes' daddy's b'day's are next week. We are taking my dad to dinner Saturday night, and then Wes' mom is having a b'day dinner for my father in law next Thursday.
7. Thanks to Colleen for lending me tablecloth/runners for my cousins lingerie shower.
8. We are having slow cooker tostado's tomorrow night. Yum.
9. I made a huge list of books I want to read. Going to the library tomorrow. I'm excited!
10. I can't think of a 10th one right now so I'll just say Hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far!!

2. Garage sale is this weekend.
3. I am finally using the birthday money that my in laws gave me by buying myself a new sewing machine.
4. Game Day is going to be at the Vandy/Auburn game this weekend. My brother in law is busy making a sign with the hopes of getting on t.v.

8. Wes is going to make me a new desk. Our front bedroom is becoming the guest/craft room.
9. It feels soooo good outside!
10. I'm going to Gatlinburg with my mom Halloween weekend. I bet it's going to be gorgeous up there that time of year.

Happy Tuesday all!

Ramble, Jamble, my mind is Scrambled!

I've got so many things on my mind!
1. I am trying to find a part time job because I am not using my time wisely at home. I do better with structure and a schedule. I don't want to go back to the classroom because since we are trying to have our first baby, and I want to stay at home with it the first year, I don't want to get into the groove of a classroom again. Besides I want to still be able to pursue other interests and before when I was teaching I didn't feel like I could do that. So I have been perusing administrative jobs, and pre-school jobs. I think that I could enjoy either.
2. Realizing you are losing friendships are hard. Realizing that you have grown apart is hard. I've had to realize that recently, and even though I don't feel very settled about it, I don't really know what to do.
3. I've really been on edge lately. I usually have so much patience but let me tell you I have been tested a lot recently.
4. I am really bothered about my brother in law's choice to go back to his ex. Why? I haven't a clue. I mean he is almost 21 years old, he's old enough to choose for himself. It's just that I don't trust this girl at all. And I can't handle fake people. And I feel like she's a phony. The thought of her being at the holiday stuff is really bugging me. But what can I do about it? Nothing. He's a big boy and can make decisions for himself. I think he is making a poor one, but my opinion doesn't matter when it comes right down to it.
5. I have a list of to-do's around my house that is over a mile long. Do I have the desire to get them done? Yes! Do I have the motivation? Sometimes. So I just need to kick start my hiney into gear to accomplish this. I'm really overwhelmed!

I love my life, and I am blessed. But I'm not going to lie. Sometimes I wish I was a kid again. NO responsibilities...just fun! But then again...I am blessed and thankful.

Hope everyone has a great week! Maybe it'll go by fast. It's fixing to be October...craziness....things just speed by now :)

Fireproof

Wes and I saw this EXCELLENT movie last night. ALL couples who are serious, engaged, and married need to see this movie. I'm not going to get into the details but I will leave you with the link to read all about it yourself. Seriously ya'll this movie was great. Kirk Cameron has come so far in his life and he is a real inspiration. I saw him speak at my parents church in Decatur about 3 years ago. All I can say is WOW! So if you are looking for something to go see at the theater, then give this movie a look-see. It'll be worth it!

www.fireproofthemovie.com

PS. If anyone is needing to get ahold of me on my cell phone you'll have to wait till Wednesday. I dropped my cell in the dish water when I was washing dishes Tuesday afternoon, and it fried it. So Verizon is sending me a new one, but it won't be here until Wednesday.

My Saturday picks

Go Dawgs (and this will be the ONLY time you ever hear me utter those words!!!!)

And even though the McClanahan household is a house divided this week for the first time during our two years of marriage.

WAR EAGLE!!

Thursday Something

This week has been so unproductive for me! I have LOTS to do trust me but I have been otherwise distracted.
1. I'm in the middle of planning my cousins lingerie shower. I got lucky and her best friends mom wants to incorporate a "favor" party in with it, so we will be able to do both.
2. I have got to finish getting my yard sale stuff together. It is a week from Saturday.
3. I'm going with my mom and some of her church friends to Gatlinburg Halloween weekend. My dad didn't want to go, so I'm going to go with her. Gatlinburg should be really pretty this time of year.
4. I mentioned earlier that we have decided to undertake the painting of the inside of our house ourselves. So I think that me and Wes' mom are going to start it in a couple of weeks.
5. My brother in law has gotten back together with his *&%#! of an ex-girlfriend. NO ONE is happy about this. This girl has cheated on him not once, not twice, but 3 times! And she is shallow as H-E- Double Hockey Sticks. UGH!!! I absolutely can not stand the thought of this. Zach can do soooo much better than her. Our suspicions are that she is only wanting him back because he has this really great paying internship right now, and she LOVES for him to buy her stuff. Last time she broke up with him, she waited until 2 days after Christmas to do it because he had bought her a brand new laptop for Christmas and she wanted to make sure she got it. He has also bought her a shitzu for her b'day in the past. Plus clothes galore! And only takes her out to the best places, yadayadayada...you get the drift. And now she comes drifting back around trying to act like nothing happened. Can I say again UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's enough for today! Hope ya'll all have an excellent Thursday!

Happy First Day of Fall Ya'll!

It is finally fall...my all time number one favorite season!! Yay!!
Now this week I am busting out my fall decorations. I'll post pictures after they are put out.
We have decided to resume our painting of the house. We were going to hire it done, because well I hate doing it, but we decided to save the money for other stuff so I guess we'll start with the living room. I gotta go get paint samples sometime this week.
Hope ya'll have a great Monday! I'm hoping mine goes okay...so far so good.

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Oh my gosh!!

It's 99 days till Christmas!! What happened to this year? It just flew by!

10 on Tuesday

1. We are having salsa chicken with mashed potatoes tonight for dinner. Yum :)
2. I think Samantha Brown from the travel channel has got the BEST job in the world. I mean she gets to travel all over the world and get paid for it!
3. I love the free credit report commercials...they make me smile/laugh every time. But the songs get stuck in my head!
4. I bawled last night while watching One Tree Hill. It was one of the saddest episodes I had ever seen. I think I am just emotional lately.
5. I am addicted to a homemade cheese ball I make. I made one for our Saturday football watching and yeah it's Tuesday and it is gone. And the sad part is I am considering making another one!
6. I was very upset with my kitties when I got up this morning. I have a bakers rack in my kitchen that has my small collection of chef items on it. Well sometime during the night they had jumped on it (BIG no-no!!) and knocked off this cute chef candy holder my mom got me last Christmas. It completely decapitated him!!
7. I am in major clean out mode with my house. Me and mom are having a garage sale on October 4th and I am really trying to get rid of things I don't use and or need.
8. I love this little device on my car. It is a percentage thing that keeps up with my oil. When it reaches 15% it tells me I need to get my oil changed. No more guessing! I just love my car!!
9. Last night me and Wes were working on our monthly budget for the upcoming October (per Dave Ramsey) and we also decided to write down some things for our Big Purchase Wish List. I don't want a lot of things, but what I want is big ticket items. But we have this list tacked to our fridge and it helps with motivation to save for purchases. We are no longer a credit buying family. With the crap that happened with my card, and with our new found way of living we swore off credit cards.
10. Speaking of the credit crap. We got it taken care of and we didn't have to pay a dime. We were able to score the tapes from two of the places that my card was used, thanks to the help of the Limestone County sheriffs department. Even though we aren't sure who had the card, they were able to prove that neither me nor Wes was at checkout counter nor the store at the time the purchases were made. These were turned over to the investigation team at Bank of America and so the charges were cleared off my card. So it worked out that we didn't have to pay the credit balance, nor any lawyer fees. You just don't know how much my stress level has dropped after all this!
Bonus: Most of you know this...but please please let me be a lesson to you. Always Always keep track of your information. Credit theft/identity theft is no fun. I know that Monica and Lauren know this as well. I'm just glad that it is over with.

Happy Tuesday all!!

A Saturday spent watching college football...

is really one of the best ways I could spend the day. What's even funnier is Wes is asleep on the couch...what is wrong with this picture?? :)
I made all kinds of yummy game foods and we have already watched Tennessee beat UAB. Right now we (or I) am watching a pretty good game of Georgia vs. South Carolina. I'm rooting for South Carolina because they are the underdog. But I will say I really like Georgia's coach and there QB. Matthew Stafford has a canon for an arm. Amazing!
Tonight of course I will be glued to ESPN2 watching Auburn vs Mississippi State. My brother in law called earlier...he is in Starkville for the game, and he said that the cowbells are ANNOYING!!! Haha...they are breaking them out even before the game. We had a long discussion about those things at dinner last Saturday night down in Auburn. Zach's friend Stephen, who is from Mississippi, said that the first ever college football game he went too was a Mississippi State game back when he was in high school, and he witnessed some old lady banging this young guy over the head with his own cowbell. I guess she thought it was annoying too...haha!
Another random fact I learned about the SEC today. Did you know that they make conference issues of playboy magazine? Like they have a Big 10 issue, ACC, SEC, etc. The only rule for it is that they can't show the girls bottom half. So yeah they go around to the college campuses and recruit these girls to pose for these editions of playboy. Interesting.
Okay so this is a random post, but I felt like posting :) Happy weekend all!
And........

War Eagle!! ( you knew that was coming I am sure :) )

10 on Tuesday

I'll try to come up with 10.

1. I'm busy sewing this week. Maybe I'll finish one of my projects and be able to post pics.
2. Dave Ramsey is going great. We are really learning a lot about money and how to manage it.
3. I'm so frustrated that for some reason I can't seem to make cookies. Not the homemade kind. I mess them up every single time!
4. I got soooo sunburned at the Auburn game Saturday. I am having to moisturize my face like twice a day, and I don't have to wear any make-up because my bright red face would come right through it lol.
5. Has any of ya'll ever watched The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family? I caught a mini marathon of it a couple of weeks ago, then I have watched the last couple Tuesday nights of it. Tonight is the season finale. It's a pretty interesting little show.
6. My one guilty pleasure show is One Tree Hill. Even though I am disappointed that Lucas chose Peyton instead of Brooke, I'm really enjoying the new season of it. Next week's episode is going to be a tear jerker.
7. Our revised class reunion plans includes the football game Friday night. Guess who Austin plays? Buckhorn, the team my brother coaches for. Too funny.
8. I'm getting some really good ideas together for my cousin Ashley's Naughty and Nice Shower. I'm really looking forward to it!
9. So I think the fall decorations are going to make an appearance this weekend.
10. This one is for Colleen. She asked how the video at the Auburn game was. I got part of it on video. Sorry it's not the best quality, but in answer to your question the video was chill bump inducing as usual :)

Auburn vs Southern Miss

We had a blast yesterday although both Wes and I are burnt! We also got soaked during a pour down in the last few minutes of the game. Here are a few pictures!

Poor Spirit had a little bit of a directional problem yesterday. But he finally made it :)

An easy way to make a few extra dollars

Okay I have a subscription to Woman's Day. I really enjoy the magazine because it always has good tips and interesting stories. And my latest copy gave me an easy way to pocket some extra cash.

This website:

www.cash4books.net

I sold three of my old college textbooks to them and received $43.85 for them! Easy peasy. You just put in the ISBN numbers (either found on the back cover or on the copyright page) and it tally's up how much, and if they are buying it. They take pretty much any kind of book, as long as it is in good condition. AND they pay for shipping!! You just print off the free shipping label they provide you, stick it on a box, and off it goes. I'll be sending mine out tomorrow. You can either receive payment by check or paypal. They let you decide.

Anyway I just wanted to pass this on. I tried out about 8-9 books and they bought three...better than nothing :) But I have tons more that I can put in and see, and I plan on doing that. Try it out, what can it hurt?

Thursday Thoughts

1. Okay so I found this article and I found it highly interesting. I don't really think this guy knows what he is talking about but whatever....to each his own. But really ranking Auburn worse than LSU and Bama? I'm not so sure about that. And what about those obnoxious cow bells Mississippi State uses? Read it, it's interesting.

http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/bradley/entries/2008/08/21/ranking_obnoxious_sec_football.html

2. Football starts tonight! Even though it's not officially fall...football season kicks off fall for me!
3. I'm so ready for 3pm tomorrow to get here. That is when Wes gets off work and we have a three day weekend together!
4. We watched the movie Stop Loss the other night. It was really really good.
5. I'm going yard saleing early Saturday morning. Then we are going to hang out at my parents Saturday and cook out.
6. So long story short on this credit card mess, the company has denied our claim because of 2 things. One the supposedly the statute of limitations has run out. Two they say I am negligent because I didn't catch it before I did. Well we talked to a lawyer in B'ham and hard to explain but I don't feel comfortable with this whole situation of the lawyers. They didn't really want to hear the whole story, they were dismissing important points, and they seem to want to nail it for all it's worth. I don't agree with the statute of limitations thing, but I can't help but feel like I am negligent since I didn't catch it. Right now there is a balance of a little less than 5,000 dollars that the thief ran up. Me and Wes feel like we would just be better off to pay that, than running the risk of this balance running up due to interest/late fees while we pursued this court thing, along with lawyers fees and court cost. We honestly don't feel like we could win, and we don't feel comfortable with the way the lawyers want to handle it. It doesn't feel honest. Wes dad is pushing us to take this to court. Wes' mom understands where we are coming from and agrees with us. Wes' dad thinks we should be compensated for our "suffering" his words. I am not out for money, I just want this taken care of so we can get our life back on track. This is causing a fight between Wes' parents because Wes' mom thinks that Wes' dad worships money. It's a huge mess!
7. Ya'll may be wondering why Wes' parents are putting their input in this. Well to make matters even more complicated the thief of our card also got my inlaws bank account number (which we had written down in our files along with the cards because my mother in law had Wes order something for Zach at one point and gave him the info for that purpose). The thief was using my inlaws account to pay a balance on the card each month. So we were paying, and the thief was stealing from my inlaws as well. My inlaws bank says that it was my inlaws fault that they should have checked their checking statments each month and so my inlaws bank refuses to give back my inlaws money. Confused yet?
8. So point in case, we are all out money (as in us and Wes parents are out some money I just realized that made it sound like we were broke...not the case), but as I have told Wes...I want my problem fixed pronto because not only are we out money it is screwing with my credit. So see why I am so stressed? I think that just paying this will lower my stress level. I don't want to screw my credit up...my score is 768 and I have worked hard for that. I don't want some idiot messing it up. I know that it lets the thief win, but the card is closed, no other accounts have been opened, we now have an id theft program, all our bank accounts have been changed, and we have learned a huge lesson. So now I just want my life back.
9. Me and mom are having a garage sale at her house the first weekend of October.
10. Wes starts another outage October 27th. So he'll be back on nights again for that time period. It is supposed to last 25 days but I have learned with TVA that nothing is as short as they say. I'm just hoping that it is over with by the first of December because we have my cousins wedding the 6th and I want to be able to go on his birthday outing the following weekend.

Okay sorry guys I know this turned out long! If you made it to the end then kudos :)

Just a clarification :)

My post from two days ago stated that we were starting cycle number four. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers but I also don't want ya'll thinking I am depressed over it. I understand that it can take a while. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I am complaining that it hasn't happened yet. I wouldn't do that because I know it takes some a long time. It could take me a long time. I am fighting against endometriosis and only having one fallopian tube. That was my whole point of the statement before it. I know this will happen when God intends for it to happen and not before then. I am not going to lie and say that I don't have a little bit of disappointment that it hasn't happened yet, because it is a little disappointing but I just know that it will happen when it's supposed to.
Okay I just wanted to clear that up. I'll take all the prayers I can get don't get me wrong, but I just wanted to make sure that ya'll know I am okay with this. Any depressed vibes comes strictly from this credit card crap. But we are gaining some ground on it so things are looking up :)
Happy Hump Day all! Only two more days until a three day weekend!

10 on Tuesday

So I know my post yesterday might have shown some stress and unhappiness. I have had a rough few weeks, only because when it rains it pours you know? BUT I have decided that I am not going to let the devil rain on my parade :) So this is my happier version of a 10 on Tuesday.

1. It's a three day weekend this upcoming weekend which means Wes is home with me :)
2. My kitties are such entertainment during the day for me. They do all sorts of kooky wacky things.
3. My friend Kara made my day the other day by giving me this gorgeous stained glass butterfly garden stake. She said it was my thank you for babysitting her son so she could get some of her art stuff done. It is really pretty. She makes some of the prettiest stained glass things. I have a really pretty piece hanging on my kitchen window that she made for me for my birthday.
4. Next Monday is the season premier of One Tree Hill. That is by far my guilty pleasure show.
5. I am picking out my wood floors this Saturday. They will be installed in 3 weeks. I am very ready for them.
6. I am making (correction sewing) these really cute fall and Christmas felt pillows.
7. After Labor day my cute fall decorations get to make their appearance.
8. It's almost time for pumpkins! My mouth is salivating at all the yummy pumpkin desserts to be made.
9. I can't wait until the weekend of December 12-14. That is the weekend after Wes birthday and we are going to Nashville to spend the night at the Opryland Hotel and look at all the gorgeous lights, and go Christmas shopping at Opry Mills. Oh and we are also going to the Melting Pot! Yumm-O!
10. We got our tickets to Big Spring Jam this past weekend. I'm so excited. Chris Cagle is going to be there! And Blake Shelton. And Sister Hazel and so many many more!

Okay off to fix me some lunch. Happy Tuesday all!

I have officially handed it all over to God!

I am tired of wondering about a lot of things and so I am just handing it over to God and trusting that things will work out like HE means them to be. I have accepted that it may or may not be what I want, and that he knows exactly what he is doing. I am going to go about my life, try to relax more, and appreciate more. I am going to quit being so selfish and try to become the person that some people already think I am. God has blessed my life so much in these last few years and I feel that I am unworthy of it, yet I am eternally grateful for EVERYTHING he has given me.

A few things going on in my life right now:
1. Most of ya'll know we are trying for baby #1...we are beginning our 4th cycle today.
2. We are fighting with Bank of America over this ID theft that I have had happen to me. They are trying to say my statute of limitations has run out, so we are dealing with a lawyer out of Birmingham. This has caused a large amount of stress in my life because this is messing with my credit and also talking about a large sum of money.

I hope everyone has a great week. I'm just hoping that this week is better, after the last few weeks we have had.

I've been tagged

monica has tagged me to do this meme!
I must reveal six unspectacular quirks about myself and challenge other bloggers to do the same.

The rules are:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Mention the rules.
3. Tell six unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag six bloggers by linking.
5. Leave a comment for each blogger.

1) In order every night before I go to bed I have to take my contacts out, wash my face, brush my teeth, and take my vitamin. I can not be misdirected from this routine.

2) I eat my french fries before my hamburger.

3) I can't sleep with any of my jewelery on except my studs that I keep in my second holes in my ears.

4) I don't know how to do a cartwheel.

5) As some of you may or may not know I had a brother that was born in between me and Chris. He passed away of SIDS at 4 months old, so I of course never knew him. We shared the same birthday though. His was 6/23/77 and mine is 6/23/80. His name was Matthew Craig Hancock, so his initials were MCH, my name before marriage was Candice Michelle Hancock, initials CMH. Now Macy has the initials MCH as well because her name is Macy Claire Hancock. I find this interesting.

6) I have always lived near the Tennessee river but I have never been fishing.

So I am tagging:

A/C is fixed!

Turns out it was a coil that allowed freon to pass through to the compressor. Well this little coil wasn't letting it get through and so the compressor was overheating. This was either a manufacturers defect or a person who didn't install it right causing it to burn up. Don't know. But my cousin fixed it, we had to pay a labor fee and all is well now, and cool :) But I have learned that no matter what A/C fixes are just not cheap. It is probably one of the most expensive things in a house to fix.
I find it funny that at Dave Ramsey on Sunday night we were talking about the importance of an emergency fund and to expect the unexpected and ka-blam broken A/C! Another example is in our first month of marriage the alternator went out on my car, twice, and Wes had to have the breaks replaced on his vehicle. That was a short money first month of marriage. That taught me the law of Murphy :)
So now I am off to bed in my nice cool house again! Happy Hump Day!

Our A/C is messed up!

I am not a happy camper right now. A/C was working fine last night but this morning it was hot in here. By 4pm it was 83 degrees in this house!
I'm perturbed because my house is one year old hence the unit is one year old. But I know these things can happen.
Luckily my cousin Brian is owns his on HVAC business so he will be making a stop at my house tomorrow. The unit is under warranty thank goodness.
But man it is going to be a long night...I can't usually sleep when it's hot. I'll have to try though :)

My 10 on Almost Tuesday

It'll be Tuesday in about 17 minutes so close enough!

1. Dave Ramsey was totally great the first night! I will do a post on it eventually, but I am getting sleepy so it'll have to wait.
2. I am so sick of some of the jerks that Wes works with. I'm usually pretty easy going, but these guys are just plain jerks. And totally unprofessional. I'll be glad when Feb rolls around and he is out in the plant and not in the training center with these (insert any four letter word you want).
3. I love my parents I really do. They do a lot for me and usually support anything I do. But it seems lately they are so set in their ways and so I am having to somewhat censor some things I tell them.
4. I am counting down the days till September 1st. That Monday night at 8pm I'll be glued to the t.v. for my one guilty pleasure show's season premier. One Tree Hill....I can't wait to see who Lucas picked...my hopes are on Brooke.
5. It seems like late at night my cats go ballistic. They become totally playful at that time and unfortunately that results in them being LOUD.
6. I have a cute little picture project I am working on for our bedroom. Once I get it done I'll post a picture.
7. I've been craving lasagna lately. I'm heading to the grocery store in the morning so I believe that will be on the menu this week.
8. The crafting bug has consumed me lately. Lots of projects going on. They will be displayed on here eventually :)
9. In September we are heading to two football games...one Auburn and one Tennessee. The Tennessee game is for Wes. I figured he has been excellent with me about the Auburn games so I want to give him something back.
10. November 15th I am throwing my cousin Ashley a lingerie shower. I am calling it a Naughty and Nice shower and using black (naughty) and pink (nice) for the color scheme. We are going to play all the fun, crazy games and have a good ol time :) I'm also thinking of hiring this lady out of B'ham to come teach belly dancing. I think that would be so neat!

It is officially one minute till midnight....oops the clock turned over :) So officially Happy Tuesday all!

The Only Time this will happen

They actually look like they like each other!
Happy Thursday all!

10 on Tuesday

1. Last night we had a FREE dinner at Mac's Steakhouse here in Athens. There was a catch in that we had to listen to a spill about a product that would help to lower our utility bill. But free is free right? The funny part was there were about 20 couples there...and me and Wes and another couple were by far the youngest there. The rest were pretty much retired seniors. The man next to Wes asked him if he felt strange sitting there with a bunch of old people lol.
2. My LAST semester of grad school starts the 25th of this month!
3. Auburn football kicks off in 18 days! War Eagle!
4. I am a huge fan of 1-800-Pet-Meds. We get the kitties Advantage for so much cheaper there than at the vet.
5. My friend Kara's son Ryland is turning one in a few days and we have his b'day party to go to. So I gotta figure out what to get him.
6. Wes found out his first old high school buddy is going to be a daddy in March. This is a major step for his old friends lol.
7. My sewing is coming along nicely :)
8. I'm going golfing Saturday with Wes and my brother in law Zach. Okay so I think I'll be riding in the golf cart while they golf but still.
9. I've been helping my in laws flip a house. It's definitely a lot of work. It's Wes grandmothers house that they are fixing to put on the market. But at least I have learned a few handy home improvement skills.
10. We have found 2 black widow spiders around our house in the past week! Talk about scary. The bug man found the first one last week when he sprayed and then Wes found the second one when he mowed the lawn last Thursday. I'm not scared of spiders in general but the thought of black widows scare the crap out of me. The bug man said they are all over the place this year. Nice! I don't want to get afraid to walk around my house!
Happy Tuesday all!!

Dave Ramsey

We are starting the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University at our church next Sunday night. We went to a preview session tonight and I can officially say I am pumped up! We mainly wanted to do this for saving purposes but I'm really excited about the whole program.
I think it will be cool to say we are overall debt free. I know we will have a house payment but I am going to be glad to not have any credit card debt. Fortunately we don't have very much of that at all. But after all this crazy identity theft issue with my card, me and Wes are pretty much over the whole credit card thing.
We are in agreement that the house that we live in is our starter house and we plan on selling it in 3-4 years. So due to that we know that we won't pay off this house. But I'll say again it will be nice to know that we don't have to pay credit card debt :)
I'm ready to begin. Seeing the preview video was exciting. We get our kit next week too and since we are doing it through our church we got a discount on it. Whoo hoo can't beat that.
So here's to yelling "I'm debt free!!"

This is one reason why the SEC is the BEST football conference in the nation

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=3510808&sportCat=ncf

Enough said!

10 on Thursday...The Wednesday Night edition

1. Wes got a speeding ticket going to Kentucky. 96 in a 70....yeah so now there is a nice 161 dollar ticket to pay.
2. Went and saw the Dark Knight last Saturday...very very good. Man Heath Ledger did an excellent job as the Joker.
3. At that same movie Wes accidentally left his debit card at a table in the arcade center...didn't realize it till we were paying for our dinner bill at Red Lobster after the movie...luckily someone honest turned it in to the managers office and it was returned to us, no harm done.
4. I officially know how to sew now! Yippee! My first project? Curtains!
5. I like to cook, but not in the summer. Just too hot!
6. It is official that this fall we will be ripping up ALL the carpet in our house and putting in hardwood. But before we do that we are getting the entire inside of the house painted...except for the room that will someday be a nursery. I don't want that one done yet because it will be painted to go with the room.
7. I am also teaching myself how to crochet. It's a slow progress.
8. I am in love with the Happy Cow cheese. Yummo!
9. I am addicted to this word game on Yahoo Games called Text Twist...it is my boredom passer.
10. Ready for Labor Day weekend...first the Auburn game...then on to Atlanta!
Happy Thursday ya'll!
